A Torah Scroll in Memory of the Tzaddik
On the 50th anniversary of the passing of the righteous Rabbi Aryeh Levin zt"l, "Keren HaTzaddik" began writing a Torah Scroll in his memory, dedicated to strengthening unity among the Jewish people.
The idea and significance of the Torah Scroll were drawn by the leaders of "Keren HaTzaddik" from the words of the Holy Zohar, which states that there are sixty myriads of letters in a Torah Scroll corresponding to sixty myriads of souls of Israel.
Therefore, holy Jews are accustomed to purchasing a Torah Scroll together with additional Jews who join in acquiring letters, verses, parchment sheets, and special Torah portions.
The mitzvah of writing a letter in the Torah Scroll is the last among the 613 commandments of the Torah and appears in Deuteronomy: "Now, therefore, write this song for yourselves."
Great Torah sages have often spoken about the greatness of this mitzvah and its immense importance, alongside the many segulot (spiritual remedies) associated with it — particularly the well-known and important custom of acquiring letters for every Jewish boy and girl as close as possible to the time of their birth.
